Emma Stone just broke an Oscars record previously held by Meryl Streep.
The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards were announced this week, and while there were several new faces recognized for their efforts in film over the past year, some past winners and nominees earned repeat nods for this year's awards ceremony.
One such nominee is Emma Stone, who not only racked up a Best Actress nomination for her role in Yorgos Lanthimos' film Bugonia but, as a producer, also a Best Picture nod for the film, per Page Six. At 37 years old, she has now become the youngest woman in Oscars history to be nominated seven times, surpassing Streep, who reached seven nods at 38.
However, while Streep may no longer hold this one record, she still remains an Academy Awards darling and with 21 nominations is the most-nominated actor in Oscars history.
Stone had been nominated five times prior to the 2026 Oscars, winning Best Actress twice for 2016's La La Land and 2023's Poor Things. According to The Hollywood Reporter, only three women have won Best Actress three or more times: Katharine Hepburn, who won four, as well as Streep and Frances McDormand, who have each won three times.
Hosted by Conan O'Brien for the second year in a row, the 2026 Academy Awards will air live on ABC and Hulu from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 15.
