A football player at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has given up his coveted athletic scholarship to his teammate. Last Thursday, the EMU Athletic Department posted a video on their YouTube channel of EMU’s head football coach Chris Creighton talking to his team. Creighton is talking about how he’s only given a certain number of scholarships to hand out and how one player, Zach Conti, has been paying his own way through four years of college.
Creighton then says how Conti has even gone as far as “selling his plasma to be able to pay the bills.” Creighton then goes on to talk about how he was approached by player Brian Dooley, who after talking it over with his family, had made the selfless decision to give his scholarship to his teammate, Conti. “I’ve never heard, I’ve never seen, Anything like that before,” the coach says in the video.
The coach then asks, “Where are you Dooley?,” and the towering player stands up. Dooley looks around the room for Conti, who also stands up. Then Dooley makes his way across the room, hands a piece of paper to his teammate, and the two players hug. Then the whole team erupts in applause and they all run together and embrace, cheering for their teammates.
