Philadelphia grandma Robin Borlandoe worked as a lifeguard for the city of Philadelphia when she was teen and loved the job. So when she became aware of a shortage of lifeguards in the city keeping 50 of the city’s 65 pools closed, she decided to do something to help. She’s motivated in part because the pools give kids a safe place to go during the summer months in a community that’s seen an uptick in violence among teens in recent years.
