American Couple Walks Miles To Escape Ukraine With Baby Born Via Surrogate

Jacob and Jesse Boeckman of Costa Mesa, California, were in Ukraine for the birth of their daughter, Vivian, who was born to a surrogate in Kyiv on February 22nd. When the Russians invaded Ukraine two days later, the Boeckmans needed to evacuate, so they hired a driver to take them to the Polish border, but reached a standstill a few miles away. Concerned for the baby’s safety, they walked the last eight miles to Poland in the freezing cold and after being separated, made it across the border and eventually back to the US.
