Justin Timberlake was arrested and taken into custody on Monday night (June 17) in The Hamptons on DWI-related charges. According to Page Six, the "Mirror" artist is due in court on Tuesday (June 18) for arraignment. A Sag Harbor police spokesperson told Newsday that specific charges would be revealed to the public "later Tuesday."
The Grammy Award-winning standout refused to take a breathalyzer test when he was pulled over (by a police officer who did not recognize him), but did comply to a field sobriety test. The 43-year-old hitmaker was enjoying dinner with friends before he was arrested. Timberlake was charged with "one count of driving while intoxicated and two other traffic violations" including failure to stay in his lane and not stopping at a stop sign.
An inside source told Page Six that the star's main concern upon being taken into custody was his tour.
“Justin said under his breath, ‘This is going to ruin the tour.’ The cop replied, ‘What tour?’ Justin said, ‘The world tour.'”
Timberlake, currently on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, is slated to perform at the United Center in Chicago on Friday (June 21) and Saturday (June 22) before returning to New York for a run of shows the following week.
He has been released from custody and his license is currently suspended in New York. Information regarding the future of the tour has yet to be revealed.
