Elton John & Taron Egerton Team Up At 'Rocketman' Screening For Duets

Los Angeles' Greek Theatre was treated to something special on Thursday night (October 17) when Elton John and Rocketman star Taaron Egerton offered fans with a performance at a one-of-a-kind screening of the film with the Hollywood Symphony Orchestra.

While in front of an audience of 5,000, the superstars joined forced for an encore performance of "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again." "I've sung a few times with Elton, but there is one song we have never done live, and I think we should do it now," Egerton, 29, said from the stage via Rolling Stone, before venturing into another record ("Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me") with the living legend, 72. The two were also joined by songwriter Bernie Taupin, film stars Jamie Bell and Bryce Dallas Howard, and director Dexter Fletcher to commemorate the special screening.

While John reportedly didn't share a speech with the crowd, he did admit that his current world tour will be his last. Egerton, who is gaining plenty of Oscar buzz for his performance in the film, also used the night to pay respects to someone he idolized growing up and now can call a friend. "I didn't prepare a big speech or anything and there’s nothing on the prompter," Egerton said. "But I just want to say that working on this film has been the greatest creative episode of my life."

Earlier this week, John teamed up with iHeartRadio to celebrate the launch of his autobiography, Me: Elton John Official Autobiography. During the intimate gathering, the icon performed snippets of his most iconic songs as he walked host Jim Kerr through his journey as a timid boy from the London suburb of Pinner to a global music phenomenon.
