NYC Landmarks To Illuminate With Rainbow Flag For WorldPride 2019

Colors are about to invade the New York City skyline with over a dozen different structures like the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center illuminating the rainbow flag in honor of WorldPride NYC.

As per a press release from NYC & Company, the five-borough initiative is a celebration of the queer community, the first WorldPride in America and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Among the buildings set for a rainbow makeover include Barclays Center, Coney Island Parachute Jump, One World Trade Center, Pier 17 and many more. "New York City is the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ rights movement and has played a significant role in the progress the global movement has made. This month our City will host WorldPride to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall uprising," Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement. "Lighting our skyline will remind LGBTQ people around the world that New York City will always be a beacon of hope and a place to call home."
