Jussie Smollett Joins The Trevor Project's 'How To Save A Life' Campaign

Jussie Smollett has partnered with the Trevor Project for their new campaign "How to Save a Life" and the mission statement behind the venture remains a top priority.

As a well-known advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, the "Empire" actor has teamed up with the organization to film a PSA, but this topic goes far beyond just a video segment. "It's heartbreaking to think of the amount of LGBTQ youth out there who feel hopeless and alone, or think they don’t have support," the 36-year-old star said in a press release. "Just one supportive person can decrease an LGBTQ youth's risk of suicide by 30 percent, and The Trevor Project is giving everyone the amazing opportunity to be that person."

Amit Paley, CEO & Executive Director of The Trevor Project, spoke about the cause, reminding readers that texting and chatting are "two increasingly prevalent forms of communication for young people," particularly for LGBTQ+ youth. "Just over the last year our youth text conversations have increased by 165%. Training more volunteer crisis counselors, along with AT&T’s products and services, will help us connect even more young people with our life-affirming crisis services," he continued.
