Years & Years Just Hinted Dua Lipa Is Recording The New Bond Theme Song

Years & Years

Is Dua Lipa recording the new Bond theme song?! UK synth-pop band Years & Years have certainly hinted at the prospect, maybe even spilling the beans early during a recent radio interview in their native London.

During an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, Years & Years bassist Mike Goldsworthy explained that he was hoping the band would be the ones to create the newest Bond theme song, an honor held by artists including Sam Smith and Adele, among others. But he followed up with the hint that Dua has already taken on the song.

Goldsworthy said, "I thought they'd ask us to do the theme song, but alas, I think Dua Lipa [is] doing it."

Realizing that what he just said may have been spilling the tea, he said, "Am I not supposed to say that? That's what I've heard. I feel bad now, maybe I've ruined everything. Well, hopefully then we can do it!"

Woops.

Of course, there has been no solid confirmation about who will be singing the next Bond theme song, but fans may not have to wait too much longer to find out. The newest Bond movie, Bond 25, is expected to hit theaters in November 2019 — just over a year away!

If Dua Lipa is really recording the next Bond theme song, it's something she has been previously asked about. Back in May, the pop star responded to very early rumors about her possible involvement with the track during an interview with Billboard. She explained, "I don't know. I would love to do it, but I'm not recording it ... so far…I don't want to jinx it. I would love to do it."

Bond 25 follows 2015's Spectre and sees Daniel Craig reprise his role as James Bond (for his fifth consecutive Bond movie). The new film will also welcome a new director, Danny Boyle, who won an Oscar for Best Director in 2009 for Slumdog Millionaire.
