Carrie Underwood Is The Reason Her Husband Came Out of Retirement

During a visit to iHeartRadio's Bobby Bones Show in Nashville yesterday, Carrie Underwood shared that she was the main factor in her husband coming out of retirement, and rejoining the Nashville Predators.

Back in August Mike Fisher announced his retirement from the NHL. His last game would be Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, at Bridgestone Arena, vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In January, he made Predators fans, and his wife extremely happy, when he announced that he would be coming out of retirement, and rejoining the team. During the interview yesterday, Bobby asked Carrie, "How much of a factor were you in Mike coming back to play?"

Carrie replied, "I would say I was the main factor in that. I mean, for him, and I completely disregarded his emotions in the whole situation. I was like, "Yeah, do it! Why wouldn't you want to come back?" And he was like, "I just kind of closed that door, and I retired, and I've got these things that I want to do," and wanted to obviously spend time with us. But, I don't know. I was just kind of like, "What's the worst that could happen, barring an injury? Let's take that off the table. Please don't get hurt. But you make a run for it and it's a repeat of last year. You know? Hopefully not." But I was like, "What's the best thing that could happen?" And to see somebody who's worked so hard for so long at something he loves, you know, I want to see him win."

In the interview, Carrie also shared that while he might have been away from the game for six months, it didn't really take him that long to get back into shape, because his family is "genetically blessed."

He stayed in good shape for most people, I think. It's a totally different training thing, and the way he eats and stuff like that is different, like, during the season or when he's prepping for the season. I think the first couple weeks back he was hurting. His family is just genetically blessed, and that doesn't happen. I'm like ... Yeah, they're all just lean, and skinny, and have six-packs, and it's disgusting. Not fair.

With the Predators one win away from moving on to the next round of this years Stanley Cup Playoff, Mike and team are on the right path to finish what they started last year.
