'RuPaul's Drag Race' Star Peppermint To Make Broadway History

RuPaul's Drag Race star Peppermint is making history as the first openly trans woman to ever create a role on a Broadway show.

Later this year, Peppermint will appear on a new Broadway show featuring music from The Go-Go's called Head Over Heels. Produced by Gwyneth Paltrow, the show is based on the Elizabethan farce Arcadia and had its world premiere back in 2015 at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, but will debut at San Francisco’s Curran Theater April 10 through May 6. After that, Head Over Heels will trek over to the Hudson Theatre in New York starting June 23.

It'll be directed by Hedwig And The Angry Inch's Michael Mayer and star Andrew Durand, Taylor Iman Jones, Jeremy Kushnier, Bonnie Milligan, Tom Alan Robbins, Alexandra Socha, and Rachel York. Among the classic Go-Go hits set for the play include "We Got the Beat," "Head Over Heels" and "Our Lips Are Sealed." Additional cuts from Belinda Carlisle ("Mad About You" and "Heaven is a Place on Earth") will also appear.
