Diddy Surprises First Acts Set To Compete On 'The Four: Battle For Stardom'

With less than a month until its official premiere on January 4, The Four: Battle for Stardom is kicking promo into high gear as show judge Diddy surprised four contestants by letting them know that they'll jumpstart the competition as the original four acts. In case you didn't know, they'll have to defend their spots on the show as newcomers challenge them each week.

On Thursday (December 7), The Four released footage of the four contestants being surprised by the hip-hop mogul during a promotional interview via Instagram DM. Among the initial contestants on the series include 23-year-old Ash Minor of North Hollywood (@ashminormusic), 32-year-old Alexis "Lex Lu" Boyd of Los Angeles (@lexluofficial), 22-year-old Elanese Lansen of Boca Raton (@elaneseofficial) and 25-year-old Blair Perkins of Los Angeles (@blairperkins). They'll work their best performances to impress the likes of Diddy as well as the other series panel members DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor and record executive Charlie Walk.

Unlike other singing competition shows, The Four skips the traditional audition rounds and kicks off with four finalists. After the finalists defend their spots each week against newcomers, the last singer standing will be rewarded with the guidance and support of the judges in hopes of making their dreams a reality.

In late November, it was announced that Fox was adding more star power to the upcoming singing competition series with the reveal that Fergie will serve as the host for the six-episode event.

The Four: Battle for Stardom premieres January 4 from 8-10 PM ET/PT.
