Helicopter pilot Joel Boyersand his fiancée and co-pilot Melody Among were able to rescue 17 people stranded in Waverly, Tennessee, after the recent flooding there. He had just finished helping Among earn her pilot’s license when he got a frantic call from a woman asking Boyers to try to save her brother, who was trapped on a roof with his kids. The couple spent the day making daring rescues, landing on roofs and avoiding power lines to grab anyone he could see.
