Alabama Power is warning customers about a phone scam. The scammers call your home, warning that your service is about to be cut off. Payment is then demanded, along with credit or debit card information. The scammers have even found a way to fool Caller ID into displaying the Alabama Power name, to make the call appear authentic. "We don't call our customers and say, 'Hey, your power's due, and we're going to cut it off today.' We have different means of reaching them," said Alabama Power's Ike Pigott. He recommends hanging up, and then calling Alabama Power. Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange issued a warning, urging customers to be vigilant.
