A Hoover businessman has won his case at the U.S. Supreme Court. Republican Shaun McCutcheon prevailed in his legal challenge to overall limits on federal campaign contributions. The high court voted 5-4 that Americans have the right to give the legal maximum to candidates for Congress, President, PACs, and political parties. The ruling strikes down the overall cap of $123,000 dollars for 2013-14. But it leaves in place the limit on what people may give to individual candidates for Congress or President, currently $2,600 dollars. The court split along familiar ideological lines, with the five conservative leaning justices forming the majority, and the four more liberal justices dissenting.
