Gov. Robert Bentley formally welcomed Remington to Alabama on Monday. The gun manufacturer is planning to open a new plant in the Huntsville area. Appearing with the governor, Remington CEO George Kollitides said the company plans on bringing 2,000 jobs. Bentley says Alabama is a perfect fit for Remington, because of the state's pro-business and pro-Second Amendment policies. The state where Remington was founded, New York, enacted a gun control law that bans semi-automatic rifles, including those made by Remington.  Recently, the state's Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo, said that "no place" in New York for people who support such weapons.
